Effective: May 17, 2026 · Last updated: May 17, 2026

Zen Ninja Studio ("Zen Ninja," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit our website at zen.ninja (the "Site"), use any of our mobile or web applications (the "Apps"), or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide directly

  • Account details — name, email, password (hashed), and profile preferences when you create an account.
  • Communications — content of emails, support requests, feedback, or other correspondence you send to us.
  • App-specific content — chores, reward configurations, group polls, votes, and similar content you create inside our Apps.
  • Payment information — if you purchase a paid feature, our payment processor (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe) collects payment details on our behalf. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, and feature interactions.
  • Approximate location — derived from IP address; we do not collect precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant permission to do so within an App that requires it.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Cookies and analytics.

Information from third parties

  • If you sign in via a third party (e.g., "Sign in with Apple" or Google), we receive the basic profile information that service shares with us, in accordance with your privacy settings on that service.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
  • Personalize your experience (e.g., remembering preferences and previously voted options).
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Services.
  • Send transactional messages (account, billing, security) and — only with your consent where required — product news.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases to process your information: performance of a contract (to provide the Services), legitimate interests (e.g., improving the Services and securing them), consent (where required, such as for optional marketing or certain cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How we share information

We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers — vendors who process information on our behalf (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, email delivery, payment processing). They are contractually bound to use the information only to provide services to us.
  • Within your group or family — if you use a feature that involves shared content (e.g., a family chore list or a group poll), the content you contribute is visible to other members of that group.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you and to which you consent.

5. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality (e.g., remembering your session) and, where you consent, for analytics that help us understand how the Site is used. Our Apps may use mobile-platform equivalents (e.g., device identifiers limited by Apple's App Tracking Transparency or Android's advertising ID controls).

You can control cookies through your browser settings and opt out of analytics tracking at any time. Disabling certain cookies may affect Site functionality.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where appropriate, access controls, and routine security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email team@zen.ninja. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

California residents: The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) provides additional rights including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.

9. Children's privacy

Chomper is designed to be used by parents and guardians to manage chores for their children. When a child uses Chomper, it is at the direction and under the supervision of a parent or guardian, who establishes the child's profile within their account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction) without verifiable parental consent. Child profile data is limited to what a parent enters (such as first name or nickname, age range, and chore completion data) and is treated as the parent's data for purposes of access, deletion, and other rights.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without proper consent, please contact team@zen.ninja and we will delete it promptly.

10. International data transfers

Zen Ninja operates internationally. Information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. When we transfer personal data out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Third-party links and services

The Services may link to third-party sites or services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. We encourage you to review them before providing information.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services or by other reasonable means, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
